Oh, Christmas! Why did you sneak up on me like that? Where did time go, folks? I just can not believe that Christmas Day is just a week away! I feel like we just had Thanksgiving dinner a few nights ago, didn’t we? Ok…maybe not, but all the hustle and bustle of Christmas has caught me off guard.
I am a girl that overthinks everything. Everything! And when it comes to Christmas gifts shopping I find myself walking around in circles at the store. I want to give to everyone, and please everyone. But there’s always the word budget and there is never enough time. Or at least that’s what we all tend to think when buying for last minute Christmas gifts.
I love to give what I would love to receive. And when I give things I love, and things that I enjoy, I feel confident with the present I am giving.
Around Christmas time, I like taking a couple of nights to just sit back and appreciate my surroundings. I spend way too many hours decorating my tree and setting the mood in my home for a wonderful holiday, to let it all go in less than 30 days.
Four things I adore about doing this: twinkly lights, candles lit, comforting fragrances, and Christmas carols. So I came up with a thoughtful and affordable gift idea.
I went to my local Walmart and purchased a couple of candles from the new American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand, collection. I found the collection in the Home Decor section in the Candle Holders aisle.
There was a wider selection of holiday fragrances such as Merry Cherry (Oh yum!), Santa’s Treats™, Sage & Red Berry, Winter Morning™, etc. located in the seasonal aisle, where they have all the Holiday gifts and treats display.
It was very hard to pick a fragrance, but Merry Cherry and Sage & Red Berry were my favorite ones.
I purchased a Merry Cherry 19 oz. candle jar for $14.93 as a part of the gift, and a Sage & Red Berry 12 oz candle jar for $10.93 that I will keep at home.
The assortment of holiday fragrances is wider, you can check them all out in the Walmart assortment page.
To complement my gift, I created a printable of my all time favorite Christmas carol: ‘O Holy Night’. This song literally brings tears to my eyes and gives me goosebumps every time it comes on. I love every single version that has been recorded.
I printed a 5×7 version and placed it in a picture frame. I also added some twine and berries to the neck of my Merry Cherry American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand jar to make it stand out. What a beautiful display this makes for any home. It really is a good heartwarming and thoughtful Christmas gift.
I also picked up these fragrance beads in Buttercream Frosting (twist my arm!) which I decided to secretly hide in my dining table centerpiece. It literally smells like I just baked and frosted a cake (especially me…baking!).
See, where I come from, Christmas is gorgeous. Don’t get me wrong, but I must admit that I love America’s Christmases even better. All the traditions have won my heart: the food, the tradition of baking cookies for Santa, the hot cocoa, Elvis, the ‘white Christmas’…even though there’s not snow in Florida! It’s just that beautiful state of mind that has no comparison, and all these fragrances represent that, and bring comfort to my heart.
Here are the fragrance beads hiding inside my centerpiece!
I always seem to be pressed for time when running errands (and I am always forgetting something!), so finding these gorgeous candles at my local Walmart was so convenient for me. Putting together this last minute gift was such a pleasure, I am sure my friend will appreciate it very much.
