Baking Supplies Organization
The kitchen cabinet I use to store my baking supplies was a jumbled mess. It’s deep and dark, making it difficult to find what I need when I want to bake. The disorganization worsened after I purchased a bread machine and started baking a few times a week. That’s when I realized I needed to rethink the organization system for my baking ingredients and supplies. My cabinet began to overflow between the whole wheat flour, almond flour, bread flour, and pizza flour. To top it off, I installed a light underneath the kitchen cabinet to help me see everything clearly.
I decided to make some changes to organize my baking supplies. It was clear that my storage needed a serious overhaul. I turned my chaotic cabinet into a well-organized, efficient baking station by focusing on effective organization systems.

TL;DR: Too Long, Didn’t Read
I organized my baking supplies by installing DIY pull-out drawers over the shelves. You can watch the short reel here, and see all the products I used here.
Tackling the Baking Supplies Organization Problem
The first issue I faced was the cabinet’s lack of accessibility. With no pull-out drawers, finding anything required moving around several containers and bags. This was a significant barrier to maintaining my baking supplies organization.
I invested in these DIY kitchen cabinet drawers to solve the accessibility issue. These pre-made drawers were a game-changer. They stick to the bottom of the shelves, creating a pull-out system that makes every inch of my deep cabinet accessible. Installing these drawers was incredibly simple, and they instantly provided a functional and efficient way to store and organize my baking supplies.
Even with the addition of the pull-out drawers, I kept my over-the-door basket that holds my baking sheets. This feature is a huge plus since it allows me to store larger, flat items without cluttering the main cabinet space. The door still opens and closes smoothly without interfering with the drawer function or the organization of the baking ingredients.

Light Underneath the Kitchen Cabinet
Another major issue was the darkness inside the cabinet. I added a motion-activated LED light bar that charges via USB to solve this issue. This light bar can last up to six months on a single charge, making it practical, inexpensive, and low-maintenance. The bar snaps in place magnetically to two brackets with strong double-sided tape, allowing easy removal when it is time to charge it again.
These lights are an inexpensive way to add much-needed illumination to the kitchen, not just for cabinets but also under the kitchen cabinets to light up counters. The LED light bars have a remote and can switch between auto and on modes, providing flexibility.
This small upgrade made a big difference, transforming my once-dark cabinet into a bright, easy-to-navigate space. The improved lighting is helping significantly with the organization of my baking supplies.

Upgrading to Airtight Baking Supplies Containers
One key element of effective baking supplies organization is proper storage. I slowly switched to OXO airtight containers to store all my baking ingredients. These containers keep my different kinds of flour, sugars, and other dry ingredients fresh and easily accessible. I decant the ingredients from their original packaging into these containers, making everything look uniform and organized to better organize my baking supplies.
My biggest priority was storing large quantities of flour inside the same container. I opted to purchase this set of 3 large canisters with scoops. Each canister holds a 5 lb. bag of flour (or any other ingredient), and the 1/2-cup scoop stored inside the lid is a great addition!
This 6-container bundle is perfect for storing baking ingredients purchased in smaller quantities, such as sugars, cornstarch, dry milk, baking soda, and baking powder.
Labeling Airtight Containers
I used my Brother P-Touch Cube label maker to track what’s inside each container and create small, clear labels for easy identification. As much as I love these beautiful editable labels, the ease of creating the labels with this label maker can’t be beaten!
Saving Instructions
I like to save essential information from the original packaging, such as instructions, recipes, and the Best Before date. I cut out the relevant sections of the bag or wrapper and store them behind the containers using adhesive pockets, the same ones I used for organizing my cleaning products and supplies.
Saving the Brand Name and Best-Before-Date
For ingredients where I don’t save the instructions, I like to create a small label with this Portable Bluetooth Mini Label Printer. I type the Best Before date and the brand of the product. I place this label on top of the container to quickly reference the brand I’m using in the future.
Using Baking Supplies Organizers for Smaller Items
I added clear bins to the cabinet for smaller baking essentials, such as jars of syrup, honey, cupcake liners, beads, and other miscellaneous items. These bins act as perfect organizers, keeping the smaller items contained and preventing them from getting lost in the back of the cabinet. This improved my baking supplies organization significantly.
I used a clear plastic pencil case to store my icing piping bags and pie crust protector, as well as a playing cards case to store the icing tips. This solution is ideal for keeping all the small, delicate items together and easily accessible. Using clear bins and cases lets me quickly see what I have on hand, making it easier to grab what I need when baking. This is crucial for maintaining an organized setup of my baking supplies.
Creating a Functional and Organized Baking Space
This mini-makeover of my baking supplies kitchen cabinet has made a world of difference. I transformed a once-cluttered and dark cabinet into a well-organized, efficient baking hub by adding DIY kitchen cabinet drawers, enhancing the space with a light under kitchen cabinets, and using appropriate containers and organizers.
The best part? Each upgrade was simple to install and budget-friendly. Even with the addition of pull-out drawers, I kept my over-the-door basket for baking sheets, ensuring every item had its place.
Whether you’re an occasional baker or a regular bread maker like me, these changes can help keep your baking supplies organized and easily accessible. By focusing on organizing baking supplies, your kitchen will become a more pleasant and productive place!
