Who is ready for a long holiday weekend? My son is!. Kindergarten is fun, but it has been a big adjustment, that’s for sure. Me? I hope I can find some time to give my studio a much-needed purging and decluttering.
A couple of weeks ago, as I was drafting my previous post, I decided to give to one of my shelves in the studio, a little makeover. The idea came to mind when I realized that as much as I loved the space, I was cluttering it with too many tools and forgetting about one important thing: making it more personal.
That’s when I decided to design the inspiring and beautiful printable quote pictured above, and make the space shine with some touches of gold and pink. Feminine and glamorous.
If you follow me on Pinterest, then you already know that I am addicted to decoration boards. I have pinned lots of workspace design ideas, and last week I took some of those ideas and created my *first ever* design board on Polyvore, which resulted in this.
It was so much fun to put together.
I wouldn’t mind upgrading my furniture to a set from Ballard Designs and I am loving that white Keurig coffee brewer*…you know me and my coffee! I am also drooling over gold desk accessories such as the lamp, the stapler and the scissors, but mind you, gold is trending lately everywhere.[AdSense-A] So, off I went to Michaels last week and I saw these gorgeous wooden gold lacquered alphabet letters. I sat on the aisle’s floor ‘digging for gold’ (pun intended) trying to spell BLOG and could not find a letter ‘O’ to save my life. Drat!
What’s a creative girl to do? Head to a different aisle and get a white letter ‘O’. It might (or it might not) get a coat of gold spray paint. I’m kind of digging the outstanding O. Ok, seriously that just came out naturally!
As for the ampersand (&) symbol, it is such an ‘icon’ in typography, with so much history, it sure adds lots of character to any writer’s – or blogger’s – office. I am in love!
Sharing my workspace with you was an idea sparked by the people at WeWork, a coworking community with an interesting mission: ” To create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living “. And that friends, is exactly what I think about blogging as a job.
WeWork offers shared office spaces, where all kinds of people, from freelancers, to small businesses, to large companies, can rent their own working space. Whether it is a cubicle or a separate office space, there are options for everyone.
I believe the concept is fascinating, especially for entrepreneurs that live in metro areas, where great office space is scarce or hard to afford. As for me, I still love working from home!
Till next time! Have a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend; a very appropriate ending for this post!
